Community policing is making a difference in communities worldwide. At the heart of community policing is the belief that meaningful change can occur when law enforcement agencies empower officers to make decisions, think creatively and work closely with their communities. The key to successful effort is working with community members like you to identify and solve local problems.

The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and ITT Industries' Night Vision unit, in cooperation with the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) are pleased to announce this award for community policing.

The award recognizes outstanding community policing initiatives by individuals and agencies of all sizes. An initiative is a community policing effort with established and measurable long-term goals using effective resources and partnerships. This is your chance to spotlight your community's police department or an individual officer for championing positive change in your community.
