Our Defense group also develops space-based technologies that enable Global Positioning Satellite systems to communicate our precise location and allow weather satellites to help forecasters calculate when and where the next hurricane will hit. Key Business Drivers

The acquisition of EDO Corporation in December 2007 greatly enhanced the ITT Defense portfolio and made us a top 10 U.S. defense contractor, as measured by revenue. We are now able to design and provide a greater number of advanced systems that are at the core of the U.S. military's transformation to lighter, faster and smarter defense capabilities. The addition of EDO also increases the number of key Department of Defense programs where we have a leading position and gives us a greater presence in commercial markets—leading to stronger long-term growth prospects.

Going forward, we will continue to focus on four targeted market segments: sensing and surveillance, communications, advanced engineering and integrated services, and space. These are large, fragmented markets, and our ability to combine multiple capabilities and create far-reaching solutions aligned with customer priorities puts us on the path to greater growth.
