ITT Receives Five SINCGARS Orders Valued at $239 Million

More than 32,000 new radios will include "hooks" for SideHat

White Plains, New York - October 9, 2006 - ITT Corporation (NYSE: ITT) today confirmed that the U.S. Army has placed five orders—with a total value of $239.2 million—for the Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS) and associated equipment. The orders include more than 32,000 radios with built-in "hooks" for the SideHat expansion module along with more than 30,000 power amplifiers and adapters and associated spare parts. The Army ordered the equipment under the SINCGARS Omnibus Contract, an indefinite delivery/ indefinite quantity procurement vehicle with a potential value of up to $2.5 billion established between the Army and ITT, after a 2004 industry competition.

With more than 310,000 systems produced for 33 countries, SINCGARS is the most widely deployed combat radio in the world. Its voice and data communication capabilities allow troops to conduct military operations with nearly total mission security, despite enemy jamming attempts. Because its router sends information up and down the command chain, SINCGARS is often called the heart of the U.S. Army's Tactical Internet.

ITT has developed five successive SINCGARS generations, each with advancements in performance and reductions in size, weight and power consumption. The latest innovation is SINCGARS ASIP-E with its "SideHat" expansion module. SideHat adds a software-defined channel that allows front line soldiers to talk and simultaneously send or receive video and data. The 32,000 radios announced today will be delivered with the "hooks" that enable SideHat to dock into SINCGARS.

"SINCGARS continues to prove itself invaluable to troops in the field today," said Lou Dollive, president and general manager of ITT's Aerospace/Communications Division. "Its new, expanded capabilities enable our troops to understand battlefield events and commanders' guidance in real time."
